Fitchburg Festival of Speed has been chosen as host of the Wisconsin Cycling Association Wisconsin State Championships. Spectators can watch criterium cycling races throughout the day as participants hit speeds upwards of 30 miles per hour while battling for $5,000 in cash prizes. The cyclists will be competing on a closed-loop format near the Fitchburg Center - Agora Pavilion, providing spectators plenty of vantage points to view this one-of-a-kind event.

Criterium Rules

  • Held under USA Cylcing Permit.
  • All USA Cycling rules apply.
  • Free-lap rule is in effect. Lapped riders may be pulled at the officials discretion.
  • You must present a valid 2023 USA Cycling license at registration to enter any race. Beginners One-Day Race licenses (Cat 5 men, women, or juniors) may be purchased for $15 upon registering online or onsite. Any former member with a racing category excluded by the Beginner One-Day Race license is eligible to purchase an Experienced One-Day license for $35 once per year.
  • Promoter reserves the right to shorten, modify, cancel or combine any race or prize list in the event of insufficient entries or bad weather.
  • Junior women age 15-18 and Women Cat 4/5 riders will be placed in their respective juniors races and also in the overall category but will be paid from the prize purse of the category in which they registered (juniors), not the overall prize purse. If a Junior Girl, age 15-18, wishes to be considered for the overall Women's prize purse(s) in their respective categories, they must register as a "Woman", not as a "Junior".
  • All winners must be present to receive prizes/awards. Prize checks will only be made payable to the individual winner, not a team. Prizes must be claimed on the day of the event at the Registration Tent. Prize checks will not be mailed.
  • Individuals with winnings of $600 or more will be required to complete an IRS form W-9 prior to being issued their prize money.
  • Day of race registration opens 90 minutes prior to the start of the first race and closes 15 minutes before the start of each race. A $10 late fee applies for race day registration.
  • Results are final on race day so please be sure to check results immediately after your race.
  • A $10 discount applies when a participant registers for multiple categories on the same day.
  • Helmets are required.
  • There are no refunds allowed.

Protest Period & Results

Please note that the protest period for results is 15 minutes after results have been posted. According to the USA Cycling Rule Book, a protest regarding the final results must be made within 15 minutes after the announcement of results in order for rider to be eligible for prizes. Please report to the Chief Judge within that time period if you wish to protest your results.
